A guided tour of the permanent exhibition rooms of the Palau i Fabra Foundation, which offer a journey in painting through the life of the poet, playwright and essayist Palau i Fabra. The first room is entitled ‘The father was a painter and the son a poet’. It features painters from the early twentieth century, including Josep Mompou, Torres-García, Pau Gargallo, Isidre Nonell, Joan Rebull, Joan Miró and Juli Gonzàlez, as well as works by two contemporary artists who attracted Palau’s interest: Miquel Barceló and Perejaume, with whom he had ties of friendship and mutual admiration, as well as Picasso, who is featured in the ‘Dear Picasso’ room. Palau acquired his collection of Picasso’s works throughout his life, and it spans the brilliant painter’s beginnings until his final years.
