In Bellmunt, the Eugènia mine will take you to the heart of the land and explain how the miner’s hard work was like. You will also discover how a mining town’s way of being and living was formed, quite different from that of the rest of the Priorat region. This mining complex was the most important nucleus of mining operations in the Priorat basin, due to its dimensions – about 14 km of underground galleries up to 620 m deep – and due to its extractive performance. Galena lead was obtained from the ore, the object of exploitation, and exported in ingots.
